Keto Diets and Mexican Food Can Work Together

The Keto diet is very popular today, but it can be difficult to figure out what restaurants fit the Keto lifestyle. Mexican food can be a great choice because we offer quite a few entrees that are meat-based. Some quick and easy choices are tostadas, carne asada bowls, tacos, or taco salad. Some of these dishes may be prepared with or come with tortillas on the plate that you need to avoid eating.  Enjoying a taco salad with keto-friendly ingredients while skipping the taco shell can be done.  The secret to a good keto diet is the workaround you come up with to enjoy your meals, and lose weight while not feeling deprived.

A lot of Mexican dishes include vegetables such as green peppers, mushrooms, onions, and tomatoes, along with a variety of fantastic spices. You can choose steak, chicken, or shrimp, and don’t forget the chorizo! The spices in Mexican foods make them very satisfying when you eat, and the vegetables make them filling. The Keto lifestyle seems to include meat, meat, and more meat. Eating Mexican can be a nice, spicy change from bland meals.

Keto healthy facts

One constant battle with Keto is fitting in those healthy fats each day. Eating Mexican can be a real help with that because so many of our dishes include sliced avocados or guacamole.

Many Keto eating guides recommend that you eat 1/2 an avocado each day. This is very important when you are eating Keto because avocados are an excellent source of healthy fat that includes potassium. Potassium is vital because it helps to maintain your fluid balance and keep your muscles from cramping (along with other benefits). You can always request guacamole as a side item if it doesn’t come with your meal.

Cheese dip and Keto

A lot of us immediately think of “cheese dip” whenever we think about good Mexican restaurants. Eating Keto does not need to interfere with your cheese dip consumption. Instead of eating tortilla chips and dip, ask for your dip to be served with your meal and use strips of beef or chicken as your dippers. Believe me, using a fork doesn’t lessen your enjoyment at all! Cheese dip also works great as a dressing on taco salad.
